Job Summary:
We are engaging SolidWorks Specialists to contribute to a high-impact mechanical design project for an innovative customer. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required, your domain knowledge is what matters.
Scope of Work:
- Create fully-parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies based on written briefs, focusing on robust feature trees and precise constraints.
- Edit and update existing parametric models to meet new technical requirements, ensuring complete documentation of changes.
- Audit and review models for dimensional accuracy, proper tolerance application, and manufacturability across various processes.
- Apply deep knowledge of DFM principles for injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, and casting/forging throughout modeling tasks.
- Translate design intent and requirements into clear, structured CAD data suitable for AI model training.
- Communicate effectively with project coordinators and fellow contributors through detailed written reports and verbal updates.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4+ years of hands-on parametric CAD experience (SolidWorks, FreeCAD, Fusion 360, or Autodesk Inventor) for editing, and 10+ years for creation of complex assemblies.
- Practical application of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 or equivalent standards in real-world manufacturing contexts.
- Track record in supporting at least two or more manufacturing methods: injection molding, sheet metal, CNC, or casting/forging.
- Current, active involvement in mechanical/industrial CAD modeling.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with emphasis on clear, concise project documentation.
- Reverse engineering capability (e.g., scan-to-CAD, point cloud conversions) considered a significant advantage.
- Experience with assembly-level modeling and, optionally, automating CAD workflows via scripting (Python, iLogic, VBA, etc.).
